Surgery on the lungs, pleura, mediastinum, sternum and the thoracic wall

Thoracic surgery includes operations on the lungs, pleura, the mediastinum, sternum and the thoracic wall. In the past, operations on the esophagus were also part of this type of surgery. Operations on the esophagus are nowadays mostly performed by the digestive tract surgeons.
 
Thoracic operations are performed at the MediClin Heart Center Lahr / Baden as part of heart surgery, either as such or combined with heart operations, insofar as they are indicated and technically feasible.
